Executive Director & Founder - Joyce Engham
Mrs. Joyce Engham is a distinguished humanitarian leader and the Executive Director of the Beacon Humanitarian Initiative Organization (BHIO), a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) international non governmental organization advancing global equity, dignity, and sustainable development. With a professional background in nursing field in the United States and over 25 years of foster parenting experience, Mrs. Engham has dedicated her life to the protection and empowerment of vulnerable children, women, and marginalized communities.
Though no longer in active nursing practice due to her extensive leadership responsibilities, Mrs. Engham continues to draw on her healthcare expertise to shape BHIO’s global programs in health, nutrition, food security, education, gender equity, disaster resilience, and humanitarian relief. Her unique ability to combine practical caregiving experience with organizational leadership and financial stewardship (as a trained Official Tax Preparer in Dallas, Texas) gives her a well-rounded capacity to manage both the human and structural dimensions of humanitarian development.
Under her leadership, BHIO has become a catalyst for transformative impact across North America, Africa, Asia, Europe, and global crisis zones. She has positioned the organization to partner with governments, the United Nations, the World Bank, the IMF, philanthropic foundations, and corporate institutions, aligning its programs with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and international humanitarian standards.
Mrs. Engham’s leadership is marked by: Child- and Family-Centered Legacy: Over 25 years of foster parenting that shaped her lifelong mission to serve vulnerable populations. Healthcare & Humanitarian Integration: A strong foundation in nursing applied to large-scale humanitarian programming in health and community well-being.
